Priced at $99.99 on a three-year contract

Canadian mobile-phone carrier Rogers Wireless announced recently the launch of yet another high-end handset, the Nokia N86 8MP, a dual sliding device that comes around with an 8-megapixel photo snapper. The new phone has been named the best camera phone by CTIA–The Wireless Association and also the winner of the 2009 Best Mobile Imaging Device by the Technical Image Press Association, the wireless operator notes.

The Nokia N86 8MP has image capabilities so powerful it is the only digital camera you will ever need,” Richard White, general manager, Nokia Canada, said. “Having one device that can connect you to your social network, navigate you from place to place and capture life around you means the mobile phone is more than just a device, but an integral part of our lifestyles.”

The new Nokia N86 sports a great deal of imaging features, as well as music and Internet capabilities. The internal memory of the phone is of 8GB, where users can store a number of up to 3,000 high-quality photos taken with a camera that includes Carl Zeiss optics, auto focus and flash. An OLED screen display, Nokia’s Ovi Maps and access to social networking are also included in the package.

The feature list of the new, 8-megapixel behemoth also includes: - Up to 6.3 hours of talk time and up to 13 days standby time; - Rogers Music Player and access to Rogers Wireless’ urMusic service, giving Canadians access to over a million songs; - Dedicated camera, media, volume, zoom and gaming keys; - Built-in FM radio transmitter and stereo FM radio; - Text messaging, multimedia messaging, instant messaging, and e-mail.

The handset has been included in Rogers' offering with Canadian maps on board, proving itself to be a great companion for those on the move. Users can enjoy the phone's navigation capabilities for free for ten non-consecutive days, the carrier has announced. The new Nokia N86 8MP is now available from Rogers with a price tag set at $99.99 upon the signing of a three-year contract agreement with a voice and data plan.
