Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has just announced the availability of specific versions of two of its latest handsets on the market today, the Nokia N8 and Nokia C7, via a partnership with wireless carrier Telefónica.

The offer refers to specific green flavors of the two mobile phones, which offer both a new color option to users interested in the purchase of one of them, as well as a more environmentally-friendly choice.

The Nokia N8 and Nokia C7 are two of the most environmentally friendly devices that Nokia ever brought to the market, a recent article on Nokia Conversations reads.

One of the features that makes these devices so eco friendly would be the the fact that the handsets come with a user start-up guide condensed down to a single page, which marks a 95 per cent saving in paper.

Moreover, the company worked on reducing the packaging too, including there only what is necessary to protect the phone during transit, not to mention that the solution is 100 per cent recyclable.

At the same time, the company notes that these two handsets come with a high-efficiency energy charger aimed at reducing charging times, which also remind users to unplug when the process was completed.

“These special versions of the Nokia N8 and Nokia C7 come with an eco apps folder, packed with green content, such as the educational game, Climate Mission, and other third-party apps, plus a link to the device’s eco-profile – Nokia’s full declaration of the environmental impact of each model,” the said blog post continues.

But this is not all, as the handsets also come with a power-efficient AMOLED screen, ambient light sensor, while containing bio-plastics (Nokia N8) and bio-paints (Nokia C7).

“Like all Nokia phones, they are free of PVC, BFR (brominated flame retardants) and RFR (chlorinated and brominated compounds and antimony trioxide),” the said blog post continues.

The offer was announced as part of Nokia’s and Telefónica’s “Green Customer Experience” cooperation.

At first, the two devices should be released on the wireless carrier's airwaves in Spain, while being followed by other markets in which the company offers its services, such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Argentina, Peru and Chile.
