Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has just released a new software update for the high-end Nokia N8, its latest flagship device powered by the Symbian^3 platform. Apparently, this is only a minor software update for the handset, weighing in at 1.2MB and being dubbed the 'Videos' update, and sporting the version number 9.22 (52).

According to the guys over at SymbianTweet, the new software update, “Nokia DAB radio & Subtitle support for Videos,” was meant to bring some new features to the video player on the device.

The release notes for this update show the following: “Easily add subtitles to your mobile videos and get a range of additional updates to many other features with this new, easy-to-install update. Currently supported subtitle file formats are SRT and SUB.”

Moreover, the update also bring the Nokia DAB Radio (Digital Audio Broadcast) into the mix, which should offer better reception, it seems. However, to use the feature, one would need to plug in the “Nokia Digital Radio Headset” accessory.

The new software update for the Nokia N8 is available for download via the Ovi Suite, as well as via the Sw_update on the handset.

The software comes only several days after another update was pushed out to Nokia N8, namely 'Apps Update 1.0’, which was meant to improve the stability of some of the application on the device.

The update was released last week, weighing in at around 1.1MB (1086 kB), but no visible improvements were included with it, some of the previous reports suggested.

On top of that, we learn that Nokia is readying another software update for the N8, one that would include more than just minor fixes and improvements as the aforementioned ones, and which is rumored to arrive as PR1.1 (or version 013.015).

Until more on the matter emerge, you should fire up Sw_update on your devices to install the new 'Videos' and 'Applications' updates for N8, or download them via the Ovi Suite, which is available on Softpedia too, via this link, provided that you don't have it installed on your desktop PCs.
