Another yet-unannounced mobile phone from Nokia has received the necessary approvals from the FCC, the so-called Nokia N5 handset.

The smartphone was already spotted into the wild before, as a blurry photo with it was published on the Internet in late June, along with a series of specs on it.

The new device is said to be running under the Symbian operating system, most probably the new Anna flavor that landed on shelves on Nokia E6 and Nokia X7 only recently.

Moreover, the mobile phone comes with Bluetooth and WiFi radios inside, as well as with support for NFC, the FCC filing unveiled.

For what it's worth, this does not come too much as a surprise, since Nokia already packed the NFC (near field communications) technology with other Symbian handsets as well.

With it, users will be able to enjoy contactless purchasing at various retailers that have already implemented the technology.

In addition, the Nokia N5 was approved with the 850MHz, 1700MHz, and 1900MHz bands inside, which would make it a great candidate for AT&T's or T-Mobile's offerings.

For the time being, the rest of the details regarding the hardware specifications of this device remain shrouded in mystery, though it might not be too long before Nokia goes official with it.

We should also note that no info on the price tag or the release date of this mobile phone has emerged so far either.

By the looks of it, the new Nokia N5 might be released as an affordable Symbian device, though it would be accompanied by high-end, powerful Nokia devices as well.

The company already confirmed plans to bring to shelves a series of appealing Symbian handsets before the platform goes extinct, and some of the latest rumors suggested that it should not be too long before 1GHz-powered phones arrive on shelves.
