Today, a new application was made available for Nokia’s Lumia smartphones, to provide users with access to Voddler, the leading next-generation video-on-demand (VOD) service.

The new application arrives on Nokia’s Windows Phone devices with support for online movie watching, as well as with various social capabilities.

Through Voddler Movie Night, users can share movie moments with their friends, regardless of whether they are in the same room or in totally different locations.

The application has been developed in collaboration with Nokia and provides users with exclusive content, while also offering four months of Voddler's membership program Voddler Plus, along with two movie tickets.

“The feature lets friends blend physical and online viewing by scheduling joint movie nights, using the mobile device not just for watching movies but also for scheduling, coordinating, chatting, reviewing and more,” the company notes.

In addition to these social features, the new Lumia app brings Voddler’s unparalleled viewing experience to Windows Phones.

“Watching movies just got social again, also on your mobile! Our app combines the inherent communication strength of a mobile device with online video's flexibility to let you and your friends decide when and where to watch,” said Marcus Bäcklund, CEO of Voddler.

All Lumia users who create or login to their Voddler-account straight from their handsets will get the aforementioned four months of Voddler's membership program Voddler Plus, which costs 79 SEK or 7.90 EUR/month.

The new Voddler Lumia application will become available for users in Voddler's current markets – Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Spain. However, the company plans on bringing it to more European markets before the end of this year.

Users interested in getting the application will simply have to search for Voddler in the Windows Phone Marketplace.

“The app is Voddler's first Windows Phone-app, and completes Voddler's mobile range, which already has apps for iPhone, native iPad, Android, Symbian and Meego. The newly released Windows Phone-app is exclusive to Nokia Lumia, and is not available on other Windows Phone-mobiles,” the company concluded.
