There has been much talk on the upcoming release of the Lumia 900 in the United States. Although the Finnish handset maker already confirmed the smartphone will be released via AT&T, no details on the exact release date of the Lumia 900 have been unveiled.

Last week, unconfirmed rumors pointed to a possible release through AT&T on April 8. Today, we have new details that add to the information we’ve already known about since last week.

It appears that the folks at WPCentral have been tipped by some AT&T store employees that Nokia Lumia 900 will be launched online on April 8, while the smartphone will hit shelves in stores on the 9th.

One of WPCentral's readers also reported that while visiting an AT&T store he noticed that an employee already had the Nokia Lumia 900 in cyan and black. He took them both for a spin and here are his thoughts:

"Also, the matte finish on the back cover makes the phone feel SUPER nice in hand and you only notice the 4.3" screen with one-handed use. Also, with its' rectangular corners and flat front/back panels, the pocket is a really nice place for it to go about the day with you. Nokia did a really awesome job with this one and I can't wait for April 9 to get here!"

Nokia Lumia 900 features the same design as the N9 and Lumia 800, but is a step up when it comes to performance. First of all, Lumia 900 comes with LTE support, while the Lumia 800 only does HSPA+ (14.4Mbps).

It also sports a much larger 4.3-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, which is based on Nokia ClearBlack technology and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

In other news, Nokia Lumia 900 is already available for pre-order in Canada via Rogers, but there’s no telling exactly when the smartphone starts shipping.
