Today, T-Mobile and Nokia announced the upcoming availability of the first Windows Phone handset from Nokia on the United States market, namely the Nokia Lumia 710.

Starting with January 11th, 2012, T-Mobile customers will be able to purchase the new device for $49.99 with the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier and after a $50 mail-in-rebate card.

The Nokia Lumia 710 arrives on shelves at T-Mobile with support for the wireless carrier’s 4G network, as well as with premium hardware inside, the wireless carrier announced.

Nokia packed the device with a 3.7-inch ClearBlack WVGA touchscreen display that is scratch-resistant, as well as with a Qualcomm 1.4 GHz Snapdragon application processor.

It also sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper, with support for HD video recording, along with 8GB of internal memory.

At the same time, the new device brings along support for a variety of applications available through the Windows Phone Marketplace, and for various services that both Nokia and Microsoft have put in place for Windows Phones.

Thus, users will benefit from a great Xbox LIVE experience with the new device, as well as from work capabilities courtesy of Windows Phone Office Hub.

Nokia Lumia 710 will also deliver great social networking capabilities, complemented by a fast Internet browsing experience.

Internet Explorer Mobile, Bing Search with voice activation and Local Scout, and popular services like Netflix and T-Mobile TV with mobile HD1 are also present on the new device, along with Nokia Drive for voice-guided, turn-by-turn navigation and ESPN for accessing exclusive sports content.

“We’re excited to team with Nokia in bringing its first Windows Phone to the U.S. with the elegantly designed Nokia Lumia 710,” said Cole Brodman, chief marketing officer, T-Mobile USA.

Windows Phone offers a compelling mobile OS choice for people who want a smartphone built around them, their family and friends. We expect it to play a more prominent role in our lineup and marketing efforts in 2012.”
