Today, Nokia Lumia 635, the LTE flavor of the cheapest Windows Phone 8.1-based Nokia device announced to date, has officially started to arrive on shelves in various markets in Asia-Pacific and Europe.

The handset was launched in early April alongside Windows Phone 8.1, Nokia Lumia 630, and Lumia 930, and has just been confirmed as available with a price tag of $189 (€139) before taxes and subsidies.

A recent post on Nokia Conversations confirms its availability in Europe and APAC, while also noting that other countries, including the United States, will receive it soon.

The mobile phone will provide users not only with all the features and capabilities that Windows Phone 8.1 was unveiled with, but also with support for 4G LTE networks in an affordable package, being the first WP 8/1 device to include such functionality.

The phone was launched with a 4.5-inch touchscreen display with Corning Gorilla Glass, as well as with a quad-core Snapdragon processor inside, so as to offer decent performance capabilities.

Moreover, it comes with 8GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 128GB of additional storage, and a 5-megapixel camera on the back.

The mobile phone also features a dual-layered polycarbonate design, an 1830mAh battery, and a multitude of color options, such as orange, bright green, and bright yellow. Interchangeable back covers are available for the handset as well.

The main selling point of this device, however, is the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, which provides users with features such as Storyteller, Internet Explorer 11, Notifications Center, Start Screen backgrounds, and more.

“The new Action Centre makes everything just a swipe away and handles all of your notifications, Start screen backgrounds inject photographic personalization, and Cortana – your new digital personal assistant – is just one tap away to help you with everything from the weather, to your meetings,” said blog post reads.

“Other new standout features that simply make life easier include Word Flow, Data Sense, Wi-Fi Sense, Storage Sense, individual volume controls, plus Microsoft’s Office Mobile and OneDrive provide a high-end productivity and cloud based experience for everyone.”

Other appealing applications are also available on the handset, such as Bing Health & Fitness, HERE Drive+, HERE Maps, Nokia Camera, MixRadio, Instagram, WhatsApp, and others more.

Nokia Lumia 635 has been available for purchase in Italy for several days now, and it has also been put up for pre-order in the UK, expected to arrive on shelves in a matter of weeks.
