Only a small number of handsets have been officially announced with the new Windows Phone 8.1 operating system loaded on top, yet they are already starting to arrive on shelves around the world, and Nokia Lumia 635 is the latest to be doing so.

The mobile phone is now available for purchase in Italy through Microsoft’s website, with a price tag of €179 ($243) attached to it. It can be seen listed in five color versions, including Black, Green, Orange, White, and Yellow.

Moreover, the Redmond-based company has kicked off a promotion for the device, and all those who will grab it until 14 July will receive a €25 ($34) Windows Store gift card along with it.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the mobile phone was made official in early April, when Microsoft announced the new Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, and that it is the LTE variant of the Nokia Lumia 630.

The handset comes to the market with a 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display capable of delivering a 480 x 854 pixels resolution.

Moreover, the phone was made official with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (Cortex-A7) processor inside, paired with Adreno 305 graphics and 512MB of RAM.

Nokia Lumia 635 was also announced with 8GB of internal memory, as well as with a microSD memory card slot that can offer support for cards of up to 128GB. Users can also enjoy 7GB of OneDrive storage for free.

The mobile phone also sports a 5-megapixel camera on the back, capable of recording videos in 720p resolution, but it features no front camera for making video calls.

In addition to the aforementioned 4G LTE connectivity, the phone also arrives on the market with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi hotspot, and built-in GPS receiver.

On top of that, it includes a Li-Ion 1830mAh battery (BL-5H) that should be able to provide users with up to 14 hours of talk time, or with up to 648 hours of standby time.

The main selling point of the new device, however, is its Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, which can deliver a highly appealing experience to its users, courtesy of new features such as Notification Center, Start Screen backgrounds, and more.

The platform was also announced with a digital personal assistant inside, namely Cortana, which is not available in Italy as of now, unless users change the phone’s regional and languages settings to the US and English, respectively.
