On April 2, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia unveiled to the world its first handsets to run under the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, including one that will arrive on shelves with dual-SIM capabilities packed inside, in the form of a Lumia 630 version.

The handset will be released in a single-SIM variant as well, but users in some markets out there will be able to enjoy it with support for two-SIM cards packed inside, it seems.

The phone will open a new set of possibilities to those interested in purchasing it, since the dual-SIM capabilities can be used for travelling or for work, as well as for other scenarios.

All the benefits of having a phone that can connect to two networks at the same time are available with the Lumia 630, as users will no longer need to carry two phones with them at all times, or to constantly swap SIMs.

Moreover, Windows Phone 8.1 will provide users with the possibility to manage the two SIMs separately, highlighting each of them in a different color, to avoid confusion, as a recent post on Nokia Conversations reads.

Some of the benefits that dual-SIM phones come with include the possibility to stay in touch with friends and family at lower costs than before, since you can keep a SIM card from your home carrier, and also add a second one from the carrier in the country you are travelling to.

With two-SIM cards inside the device, users will also enjoy expanded coverage capabilities, especially when these cards come from different carriers, as well as the possibility to manage their personal and business lives on the same device.

There is also the fact that you need to charge only one device instead of two, and that you’ll save money paying for only one handset and not two of them.

“From buying just the one phone instead of two, to enjoying the flexibility of choosing the best tariff for your connection with two SIMs, there’s money to be saved with the Nokia Lumia 630 dual SIM,” Nokia says in the aforementioned blog post.

Moreover, the company has unveiled that the new smartphone is set to become available for purchase as soon as the next month, and that it will cost $169 (€122) before subsidies and taxes when released in Asia, China, and India.
