If you thought you can't get a Windows Phone handset cheaper than $50 (€36) than you are so wrong. Nokia Lumia 521 was available in the United States at various carriers and major retailers for only $50 (€36) and everyone thought that this is a really cheap smartphone.

This was one of the best deals last holiday and Nokia must have sold lots of Lumia 521s during this period. However, there's another carrier that is no running a much better deal on the most popular Windows Phone smartphone.

US-based network operator MetroPCS is now offering the Nokia Lumia 521 for just $29 (€21) after $50 (€36) instant discount and $20 (€15) mail-in rebate.

Those who don't mind switching to MetroPCS or owning a Windows Phone device may want to take into consideration this offer which almost doesn't cost anything.

Still, keep in mind that Nokia Lumia 521 is also the less-featured smartphone powered by Windows Phone 8 platform, so don't expect high-end features.

For those unfamiliar with the smartphone, the Lumia 521 sports a decent enough 4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and features scratch-resistant glass.

In addition, the smartphone is equipped with a dual core Qualcomm MSM8227 processor clocked at 1GHz, an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit and 512MB of RAM.

Even though Nokia confirmed the Lumia 521 packs 8GB of internal memory, only 4.7GB are user available. Luckily, users will be able to further expand memory up to 64GB via microSD memory card.

There's also a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus and HD (720p) video recording. Unfortunately, the Lumia 521 doesn't come with secondary front-facing camera.

More importantly, even though Nokia Lumia 521 comes with Windows Phone 8 onboard, it is eligible for a Lumia Black update.
