Lumia 520, the most affordable Windows Phone 8-based smartphone from Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia, is now available for purchase in the UK via the Carphone Warehouse, featuring a price tag of £149.95 ($229 / 175 Euro), if purchased SIM-free

However, the handset is also sold on contract, with agreements on the networks of various wireless carriers, for free on plans starting at £7 per month.

Users interested in grabbing the new mobile phone on a Pay As You Go deal will be able to do so as well, while having to pay £99.95 ($153 / 117 Euro) for it, plus £10 top-up.

Nokia Lumia 520 was made official in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and arrives on shelves with a 4-inch touchscreen display.

The smartphone also packs a 1GHz dual-core processor inside, along with 512MB of RAM, and 8GB of internal memory, with a microSD memory card slot available for expansion purposes.

Furthermore, Lumia 520 sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities, GPS receiver, and the usual set of sensors.

Nokia loaded the handset not only with the Windows Phone 8 operating system, but also with various applications that it has designed for the platform, including its HERE Maps, Drive, and Transit apps, and others more.

“The HERE collection of apps built into the Nokia Lumia 520 are amazing value – they’re free after all! HERE Maps lets you view high quality, super accurate maps for practically any country in the world, and you can download them too, so they’re available offline, helping you avoid data charges,” the retailers notes.

“If you’re driving, HERE Drive (UK & Ireland) gives you turn by turn voice directions. And if you need to get across town on public transport, HERE Transit plots your quickest route, including departure times and walking distances.”
