Today, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia officially announced the upcoming availability of the Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone on the market in India.

The Windows Phone 8-based device will become available for purchase in the country starting with October 11, the company announced.

However, no details on the pricing of the smartphone have been unveiled as of now. According to Nokia, such info will be released on October 10, one day before the phone lands on shelves.

However, rumor has it that it could cost around $800 (€590) when launched, at least this is what Unleashthephones notes.

Nokia Lumia 1020 comes with a 4.5-inch Pure Motion HD+ (1280 x 768 pixel) AMOLED touchscreen display with ClearBlack technology.

The smartphone was also announced with a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor packed inside, as well as with 2GB of RAM. Furthermore, the new device hits the market with 32GB of internal memory and with a 2000mAh battery inside.

Nokia launched the Lumia 1020 in India with support for 3G HSPA+ 41Mbps networks, as well as with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. The smartphone also offers NFC capabilities, and a built-in GPS receiver, with support for Nokia’s HERE navigation services.

The main selling point of the device is its 41-megapixel camera on the back, which features Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a BSI sensor, and 6-lens optics. It also comes with LED flash and Xenon Flash.

The camera will enable users to shoot 38MP photos, while also offering support for full HD video recording. There is also a front camera for making video calls.

The Windows Phone 8 handset also sports a variety of exclusive Nokia applications loaded on top, including the Nokia Pro Camera, which can take full advantage of the large camera on the smartphone’s back.
