Starting today, AT&T’s customers can pre-order the newly announced Nokia Lumia 1020 smartphone, the first Windows Phone 8 device to arrive on shelves with a 41-megapixel photo snapper.

The wireless carrier has opened the reservations for the device on its website, claiming that those who place orders for it will receive it as soon as July 23. Lumia 1020 will go up for sale on July 26.

Just as announced last week, the mobile phone features a price tag of $299.99 (€229) with the signing of a two-year contract agreement. Users interested in purchasing it SIM-free will have to pay $659.99 (€505) outright.

“The Nokia Lumia 1020 combines the image quality of a 41-megapixel image sensor with the simplicity and convenience of a smartphone that's always with you,” AT&T notes.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 arrives on shelves with a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ touchscreen display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and 2GB of RAM.

Furthermore, the new device sports 32GB of internal memory, LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS receiver, and the usual set of sensors.

The main selling point of the device, however, remains the 41-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which is complemented by a front camera for making video calls.

“Capture more of any moment with pixel-perfect zoom. The 41-megapixel PureView camera sensor lets you zoom into any photo or video without losing the amazing details,” AT&T notes.

“Get the perfect shot. Record life's best moments in high definition. Smooth and steady zoom gets you up to 6x closer to capture the finer details on screen without pixilation. The digital high-performance microphones record high-quality stereo sound.”

Launched in the US exclusively on the network of AT&T, the Nokia Lumia 1020 comes with AT&T Locker loaded right from the start, providing users with 50GB of cloud storage for free (Wi-Fi connection or cellular data plan required).

Those who would like to reserve the Nokia Lumia 1020 will find it listed on this page on AT&T’s website. It is available in three color flavors, namely Matte Black, Yellow, and White.
