Good news for Nokia fans in India, as Lumia 1020 pre-orders are now open for everyone who can afford to purchase this high-end smartphone.

The bad news is Nokia India priced the flagship handset at no less than Rs 50,000 outright, which is about $815 or €600. The amount the Finnish company is asking for Lumia 1020 is incredibly high for an emerging market.

However, we reported last month that some Indian retailer who had the Nokia Lumia 1020 on pre-sale had depleted their stock very fast, but that was before the smartphone got priced.

As PhoneNewsCo points out, the Lumia 1020 is available for pre-purchase in India via Nokia online store and customers can choose from Black, Yellow, and White color options.

There's more to it, as the Finnish handset maker also offers free Nokia WH-530 stereo headphones worth Rs 2,999 ($50 / €36) to all those who pre-order the smartphone now.

According to Nokia India, the Lumia 1020 will be released by the third week of October, but the latest rumors claim the smartphone will go on sale in the country on October 11.

The Lumia 1020 is the most powerful camera phone available on the market. Surely, this is one of the reasons Nokia has priced it so high.

It boasts a stunning 41-megapixel rear-facing camera, which features Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, Xenon, and LED flash, as well as full HD (1080p) video recording. There's also a secondary 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera included.

Hardware-wise, the Lumia 1020 comes equipped with a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, an Adreno 225 graphics processing unit, and 2GB of RAM.

The Indian version of the device will be packed with 32GB of internal memory and this is all that users will get, as Nokia Lumia 1020 lacks a microSD card slot for memory expansion.
