Owners of Nokia devices can now enjoy an even more advanced option when it comes to personalizing their devices, courtesy of the new Own Voice for Ovi Maps application available for download from the Ovi Store. The new software solution comes with a simple set up process, enabling users easily record the 53 required commands, after which all things are set for navigation using Nokia's Ovi Maps solution.

“If you like the sound of your own voice, or are simply fed up of being told what to do, then Own Voice for Ovi Maps is just for you. Own Voice lets you record and share your own navigation instructions for Ovi Maps, directly from your Nokia. Simply download the app to your device and as quickly as you can say various versions of “Turn left in 200m” 53 times, you’ll have your very Own Voice pack for navigation,” a recent post on Nokia Conversations reads.

The Own Voice application will create a new voice pack, easily taking users through all the steps of the process. After recording the required commands, one would have to simply hit the save button, and the voice pack will be automatically uploaded to the Own Voice website. Users will then have the possibility to search through the wide range of existing voice packs, which are sorted by popularity and by recommendation.

“With 10 million downloads of Ovi Maps already on devices, there’s sure to be no shortage of voices to choose from. […] Want to share your creations with friends or the entire world? Easy! Own Voice has the ability to share voice packs by Facebook and Twitter and if you find one you really like (or hate) then you can rate it,” the Nokia Conversations post continues.

For the time being, the Own Voice for Ovi Maps application is only available in English. It can be used on all Nokia phones that feature support for the Ovi Maps 3.03, and has been made available for download for free from the Nokia Ovi Store.
