14 DAY TRIAL // Nokia has just announced a new Bluetooth Stereo headset during its Symbian Launch Event, in Hong Kong.
Dubbed Nokia Essence, the headset was announced along with three new Symbian Belle smartphones, Nokia 600, 700 and 701.
According to Nokia, the Essence Bluetooth Stereo Headset is aimed at those who want to make the most out of the entertainment potential of their Nokia smartphone or any other Bluetooth enabled music player.
[ADMARK=1[Although Nokia states that the headset is universally compatible with all devices that include Bluetooth technology, there's no telling if it will work with iOS or other platform devices.
However, it appears that this is Nokia's highest performance in-ear headset to date as it comes with 99% noise cancellation technology.
Another strong point of the device is the fact that it embeds NFC (Near Field Communication) support, which allows Nokia smartphone users to pair the headset with a simple tap on the controller.
As Nokia suggests, its Essence Bluetooth headset is superior to other headsets through its Active Noise Cancellation technology, which eliminates eliminating 99% of background noise.
Obviously, this feature is mainly aimed at music lovers who will be able to listen to their favorite songs even in the noisiest and most crowded environments.
In addition, Nokia Essence includes call handling and offers buttons both for calls and for moving through the music stored on the paired device.
Nokia Essence contains microphones that listen to the sounds around the user and then create an opposite sound which is blended in with the music.
This is called “reverse-noise” and is intended to cancel out the noise around the person that listens to the music using the Nokia Essence Bluetooth headset.
However, the extent to which this works seems to be directly proportional with the quality of the microphones, the responsiveness of the electronics and the quality of the algorithms that create the noise-canceling effect.
Nokia has yet to announce the headset's price tag and release date.
