Nokia just announced the release of its new Nokia Internet Radio service that enables users to search, find and listen live to radio shows broadcasted over the Internet. The new application is available as free download from the Nokia website and will also be integrated in upcoming Nokia S60 3rd Edition mobile phones.

Offering a large list of Internet radio stations from all over the world, Nokia Internet Radio's station directory makes music discovery easier than ever. Browsing for content can be done by station name, language, country or genre. Lists with top ten most popular radio stations on the Internet, updated every hour, are made available to users so that everyone knows what the latest hot music is, both locally and around the world. Moreover, Nokia Internet Radio has an easily accessible "Favorites" list where you can add your top stations - this way you will not need to search for them every time you want to listen to their music.

"Most new music discovery occurs while you're listening to the radio", said Tommi Mustonen, head of the Nokia music business. "By offering the Nokia Internet Radio service on mobile devices, the radio experience becomes more accessible, giving people new ways to find music."

By choosing appropriate streaming servers to correspond with the speed of users' network connection, the audio quality of the whole radio experience can be enhanced to satisfy any music lover.

The new Nokia Internet Radio application is supported by WLAN connections as well as packet data, thus being always available for music listeners. The service works for the moment only for the following phones: Nokia N95, Nokia N95 8GB, Nokia N91 and Nokia N82. But, as mentioned at the beginning of the article, in the near future Nokia will integrate the service in select S60 3rd Edition devices too.
