One of the software solutions that users of Nokia mobile phones can enjoy on their handsets is the Here and Now application, which was released not too long ago by the guys over at Nokia Beta Labs, and which has been included in the Ovi Store as of today. According to the development team, the software solution has been refined and updated, and now a new version of the app is available for download.

“Based on your feedback, we have created a new version of Here and now. The main difference is that the UI is now browser-based. Although liked by many (including us), the previews were an unnecessary extra step when the services are web based anyhow. Also, there were situations where the fit between the application UI and the browser was not smooth enough,” the development team notes on the Nokia Beta Labs blog.

The new version of Here and Now has been designed to download a web page that displays the weather, as well as highlights of local movies, restaurants and events. According to the blog post, the page is customized according to user's location, language and in line with the screen resolution of the mobile phone. Moreover, the application has been optimized for mobile usage, which means that the download times are kept short.

Those interested in downloading and installing the new version of Here and Now can do so via the Software Update (over-the-air or through Ovi Suite), or can search for it in the Ovi Store. According to the developing team, users should also consider uninstalling the Beta Labs version prior to installing the new variant. The application can be used on a series of Nokia phones, including: Nokia 6710 Navigator, Nokia E52, Nokia E55, Nokia E72, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Nokia 5230, Nokia 5235, Nokia X6, and Nokia N97 Mini. More devices are expected to see support for the application in the near future, and those who do not find their handset in the above list can continue using the older flavor.
