Nokia has announced the availability of its latest Eseries smartphones, the E71 and E66, for the Indian mobile market (the second largest in the world in terms of subscribers). The new handsets were officially unveiled by Nokia on June 16, when the Finnish company presented them as "email-optimized devices."

Coming to succeed the E61i and E65 models, the new E71 and E66 smarpthones bring a set of common features (including Symbian S60 3.1 Edition OS), but different form factors. The E71 is a candybar with a full QWERTY keyboard, while the E66 is a slider that only has an alphanumeric keypad.

Weighing 127 grams and measuring only 114 x 57 x 10 millimeters, Nokia E71 is one of the slimmest business-oriented handsets on the market. Its features include: quad-band GSM connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS and EDGE, dual-band HSDPA connectivity, built-in GPS, Nokia Maps, Wi-Fi, a 2.36 inch TFT display with 16 million colors and 240 x 320 pixels, a 3.15 Megapixel camera with auto focus, flash and video recording, Office document viewer and editor, advanced Web and email capabilities, Push-to-talk, Music and Video players, FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, USB 2.0, 110MB of internal memory and microSD card support for up to 8GB.

Nokia E71 has a retail price of 22,949 INR (about $530 or 340 Euros) and is available in two color versions: white and gray.

The features of E66 are pretty much like the ones of E71, but they bring some extra stuff, including an accelerometer for auto-rotate, turn-to-mute ability and VoIP capabilities. The E66 slider weighs 121 grams and, when closed, it measures 107.5 x 49.5 x 13.6 millimeters.

Like the E71, Nokia E66 comes in two color versions (white and gray), but its retail price is a bit higher: 23,689 INR ($550 or 350 Euros).
