Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia is gearing up for the release of a new smartphone on the market in the United States, namely the Nokia E7, which is now listed as available for pre-order on the company's US website.

Featuring a price tag of $679, contract free, the new smartphone, which runs under the latest version of Symbian – Symbian^3 – is listed with an estimated release window of early April, which would be only several weeks from now.

The Nokia E7 smartphone was introduced in September last year, but landed on shelves only in the beginning of 2011. This is the latest flagship smartphone that Nokia launched with a side sliding design.

The specifications list of the Nokia E7 includes a large 4-inch nHD (640 x 360 pixels) AMOLED touchscreen display, complemented by a full QWERTY keyboard that slides from beneath it.

The handset also comes with HSDPA 10.2 Mbps and HSUPA 2.0 Mbps capabilities, as well as with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, Micro USB port, HDMI, and 3.5 mm AV connector.

Built-in GPS, A-GPS receivers and support for Ovi Maps with free car and pedestrian navigation are also present in the mix, along with full web browsing capabilities, Flash Lite 4, and access to Facebook and Twitter through Ovi by Nokia Social client.

On the back, the Nokia E7 sports an 8 megapixel photo snapper with dual LED flash, Face recognition and HD 720p video recording capabilities. It also includes a secondary camera for video calls (VGA, 640 x 480 pixels).

Nokia packed the new device with 16 GB of internal memory, stereo FM radio, Nokia Music Player, and a BL-4D 1200 mAh Li-Ion battery that can deliver up to 540 minutes of talk time or up to 430 hours of standby time on GSM (300 min and 470 h on WCDMA).

The Nokia E7 is touted as a business-grade smartphone. It can be seen as available for pre-order on Nokia's website here.
