Today, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has made available for download three different Adobe Lightroom profiles, namely flash, fluorescent, and daylight-halogen.

The move follows a few months after the company has included support for raw DNG format in the Nokia Camera application for the Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1020 with the Lumia Black software loaded on top.

“The DNG format gives you access to pure and untouched visual information, allowing you to do more with your images using the professional workflow you can use with SLRs,” a recent post on Nokia Conversations reads.

“Some enthusiastic photographers at Nokia started to shoot in DNG format as soon as we had enabled it in our smartphones. In the making they also created color profiles for Adobe Lightroom to make their own professional workflows easier and faster.”

Moreover, the company explains that anyone can easily come up with camera color profiles with the help of free Adobe tools. Nokia’s own profiles were released for all those photography enthusiasts out there to enjoy.

“A raw DNG image file contains a lot of information about the image such as camera details, exposure settings, date, and so forth,” Juha Alakarhu, the head of imaging technologies at Nokia, explains.

“A color profile tells even more information about the image – specifically how Adobe Lightroom should convert the colors of the raw image file.”

With the use of said profiles, users will be able to avoid having to manually adjust the colors in raw conversion. Basically, they will be able to easily select the flash color profile that will make it easier and quicker to adjust the colors for the image, depending on the type of flash that was used.

“You can still continue using the default profile embedded in the DNG file, and not worry about the specific color profiles we published today,” Juha also explains.

While these profiles were released for Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1020, chances are that Nokia will come up with some other similar tools in the not-too-distant future. One thing that users should keep in mind, however, is the fact that these profiles will only work in Adobe Lightroom.

“I’d recommend taking a backup of the color profiles and keeping them somewhere safe together with a backup of your raw images. If for some reason in the future your hard disk would break and you’d lose the color profile, all your images using that profile would have some color shift,” Juha notes.

Users should download the aforementioned profiles either for Lumia 1020 or Lumia 1520, and should follow the installation instructions on the Adobe website to start enjoying them.
