A new version of Nokia Configuration Tool is now available for download for those system administrators who need to take care of the Symbian phones of employees.

Already available as a commercial product, the Nokia Configuration Tool has been upgraded from version 6.2 to 6.3 beta with a series of welcomed improvements, it seems.

The release notes for the new application flavor include the following: - Auto detection feature, which support all Symbian devices

- Provided descriptions to some fields of settings (Email Accounts, SIP Settings, SCCP, VoIP Service Settings, Voice Call Continuity, Mail for Exchange, NCC for Alcatel - Lucent) so that administrator can get a quick reference

- Added Proactive feedback feature, which enables the user to give direct feedback from within the tool

For those out of the loop, we should note that the Nokia Configuration Tool is an application that can be installed on Windows-powered computers.

Through it, Symbian phones can be easily managed via a USB cable or via Bluetooth. However, as stated above, the application was aimed mainly at system administrators who need to take care of a larger number of phones within an organization.

“With it you can configure various settings like WLAN, email, Internet access points, and VPN on a single phone or several phones at the same time,” the development team notes in a post on the Nokia Beta Labs blog.

“Files, contact cards, and applications can also be transferred from the phone to the PC and vice versa,” the blog post continues.

The new Nokia Configuration Tool 6.3 beta is expected to graduate to a commercial product before the end of the year, the development team explains.

However, for that to happen, users who download and install it are asked to offer feed-back on the experience they receive, so that additional improvements will be included into the mix before the final release.
