Even though is not the newest handset on the market, Nokia's C6-00 Symbian smartphone has just been introduced by Canadian carrier Fido.

The slide-out QWERTY device is now available for purchase for $275 off-contract or for as low as $50 with a monthly plan and two-year Fido agreement.

While Nokia mobile phones are known for the quality of their hardware, it appears that Nokia C6-00 has been the target of negative feedback in Canada, especially from Bell customers.

Apparently, the main downside of the C6-00 is the high price in comparison with the C6-01, another smartphone with a newer iteration of Symbian on board and better hardware inside, which costs a bit under $300.

The C6-00 operates an old Symbian^1 mobile platform and is powered by a 434 MHz ARM 11 processor.

The phone comes with a 3.2-inch resistive touchscreen with 16 million colors support, 360 x 640 pixels resolution, proximity sensor for auto turn-off and accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate.

Equipped with a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and camcorder (VGA@30fps), the C6-00 is perfectly fit for video calling thanks to the secondary QVGA front-facing camera.

Nokia C6-00 offers users multiple connectivity options such as HSDPA (3.6 Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, as well as integrated GPS with A-GPS support.

It packs 240 MB of internal memory (200 MB user available) and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 16GB).

The phone is powered by a standard 1200 mAh Li-Ion that should provide up to 7 hours (5 hours for 3G) of talk time or up to 400 hours of standby time.

In addition to Nokia C6-00, Fido also added the Samsung Linx and Sony Ericsson Cedar entry-level feature-phones to its portfolio.

Each of the handsets are priced at only $10with a monthly plan and 2 year Fido agreement or $110 without any contract.
