Chatr Wireless, Rogers low cost carrier, has just introduced the affordable Nokia C2-02 feature-phone.

The carrier is now offering the handset as “The Appeal” for only $85 (about 62 EUR) outright. The C2-02 is one of newest feature-phones launched on the market by the Finnish handset manufacturer.

Unveiled back in June, the phone hit shelves in August, but it's a big surprise that it reached Canadian shore so early.

Also known as Nokia C2-02 Touch and Type, is a basic phone that features a standard slider form factor.

Chatr describes the phone as “appealing,” hence the name: “connect to your favourite pre-loaded apps like Facebook, Twitter, and the Nokia Browser & update your status with the slide out keypad. Never get lost again with Nokia Maps and get where you’re going easier than ever with voice-guided navigation. Touch and scroll through photos, music and web sites with just one finger on the 2.6” display. With all this, it’s easy to see the appeal.”

Nokia C2-02 is the fifth Nokia phone launched by Chatr after Nokia 1661, Nokia 1616, Nokia 2220 and Nokia C3 were introduced earlier this year.

The phone is delivered with a chatr SIM card, battery, charger, getting started guide, quick user guides(EN/FR), and Stereo headset.

The phone's 1020 mAh Li-Ion battery should provide up to 600 hours of standby time or up to 5 hours of talk time.

For those unfamiliar with the feature-phone, the C2-02 comes with a 2.6-inch resistive touchscreen with 65k colors support, 240 x 320 pixels resolution and handwriting recognition function.

Although the phone embeds only 10 MB of internal memory, users can expand storage via microSD card slot up to 32GB. It is also worth mentioning that the phone is delivered with a pre-installed 2GB memory card.

In addition, the phone sports a sub-par 2-megapixel camera with camcorder, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support and microSB port.
