Nokia has acquired Twango in order to provide for its users a better media experience on their mobile phones. The services provides a media sharing solution for a wide range of media files which can be used on handsets.

With this new acquisition, Nokia tries to offer people an easy way of sharing multimedia content through their mobile phones. Twango is capable of supporting a large number of media files used by mobile phone users. Moreover, it brings the possibility of managing, sharing and repurposing their personal media content. It will also bring a highly social size to the entire process, as it will offer people a new solution for communicating and sharing their experiences with the close ones.

"The Twango acquisition is a concrete step towards our Internet services vision of providing seamless access to information, entertainment, and social networks - at anytime, anywhere, from any connected device, in any way that you choose. We have the most complete suite of connected multimedia experiences including music, navigation, games, and - with the Twango acquisition - photos, videos, and a variety of document types", considers Anssi Vanjoki, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Multimedia, Nokia.

Twango plans on building its team in the Seattle area at a fast pace in order to live up to the demands of providing an evolved global media sharing service. Nokia looks to make the best of what their mobile phones have to offer in terms of interactive media experience.

By combining the computer performances of the Nseries handsets with Twango's service, the result will be that of a new and evolved solution for communication. Media content can also be used by people to express themselves which makes this solution so important. By having a better service for media file sharing, the user can add a personal touch to the communication process.
