Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia announced today the launch of five new mobile phones for its Nokia Life Tools, as well as that of the service in Indonesia, starting with early December 2009. The service, as many of you might already know, is aimed at consumers in small towns and rural areas, and has just been enhanced with the release of the five new affordable handhelds, the company stated. In addition, the handset vendor also noted that these phones would become available for purchase all around the world.

“Following the successful launch of Nokia Life Tools in India, where people are getting the benefits of vital information sent directly to their mobile phones, we are pleased to bring this service to consumers in Indonesia,” said Dieter May, Vice President, Emerging Markets, Nokia. “Inform, Involve, Empower - the vision of Nokia Life Tools - applies no matter where it's implemented. With the number of devices that Nokia Life Tools supports, including the five new phones we are announcing today, we are giving people the solution that suits them the most.”

The new devices available for Life Tools customers include Nokia 1280, Nokia 1616, Nokia 1800, Nokia 2220 slide and Nokia 2690. The Nokia 1280, Nokia 1616 and Nokia 1800 are priced at EUR 20, EUR 24 and EUR 26, respectively, and come with FM radio, flashlight, long battery life, and other features more. The first of the fresh five phones will come to the market before the year's end, while the others will ship in the first half of the next year, Nokia added. At the same time, the company announced that the Agriculture service of Nokia Life Tools would become available in Indonesia in Java and Sumatra at the first stage, while Education and Entertainment services will come all around the country. The maker also revealed that it is working with the Ministry of Agriculture (Departemen Pertanian Republik Indonesia), the Center of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG), Synovate and other partners to deliver important news and information to consumers.

Users in Indonesia will first be able to enjoy Nokia Life Tools on handsets like the Nokia 2323 classic, Nokia 2330 classic and Nokia 2700 classic. There will be 11 devices launched in the country pre-loaded with Nokia Life Tools, but it will be downloadable on other mobile phones.
