The Ovi Mail team announced on Monday that the Webmail version of Ovi Mail had been updated to version v1.1. The main update that comes with the new release is the support for more languages, rising their number to 12 currently supported, among which we can count: UK English, US English, Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Malay, Bengali, French, German, Hindi, Tagalog, Portugese (Brazil), Portugese (Portugal) and Spanish.

The extended language support is not the only improvement that comes with the new v1.1 release of the Webmail version of Ovi Mail. The team also managed to add a series of bug fixes to the service, and now users will be able to enjoy an improved ‘compose’ experience, as the team has set default font, headings, and bold, italic and underline formatting, as well as an enhanced message display, which has been made possible by turning URLs into links.

Other improvements that can be spotted in the new release include an upgrade to the addressing function, which now sports an auto-complete with multiple addresses and also has “;” enabled as a separator, and a range of address book preferences that can be enjoyed, allowing users to display their contacts either by their first or last name.

The Ovi Mail team also said that it received feedback from users and that the improvements above are based on those requests. It further stated that other suggestions like “integration with Ovi Contacts and Ovi.com as well as support for S60 account creation” were also planned to be fulfilled in future releases.

As many of you might already know, the Webmail version of Ovi Mail has been launched back in February this year, and the interest in account registrations around the globe seems to have been growing ever since. There are Ovi Mail users in over 170 countries, while more than 75 Nokia devices are used to access it.
