Nokia 808 PureView is currently one of the most popular Symbian smartphones, though the handset has yet to make its debut on the market.

Although Nokia’s camera-phone is already available for pre-order via several European online retailers, none has managed to offer an exact release date for the device.

Clove is amongst the first major retailers in the UK that are now taking pre-orders for the Nokia 808 PureView Symbian smartphone.

Customers who want to pre-purchase this device will have to shell out no less than £538 ($855 or €650) outright. This is clearly overpriced as Nokia announced a suggested retail price of €450 ($590) for the Symbian smartphone.

However, it appears that Clove UK’s no-term price is in line with MobileFun’s, another UK-based retailer that tagged the Nokia 808 PureView with of £539 ($855 or €650) price.

Clove UK cares to explain customers interested to acquire the Nokia 808 PureView: “£538 may seem like a high price tag for a handset that runs Symbian, but the PureView does have a 41MP camera to make up for its lack of a smartphone OS.”

Furthermore, the retailer mentions that it does not have an exact availability date for the Nokia 808 PureView yet, but that they will confirm an approximate release date as soon as possible.

In this regard, it is also worth mentioning that MobileFun has put a May 7 release tag for its SIM-free Nokia 808 PureView smartphone, so we can safely assume that Clove will be able to debut the device around the same timeframe.

Aside from its impressive 41-megapixel rear camera, Nokia 808 PureView comes with a 1.3 GHz single-core ARM 11 processor, 16GB of internal memory, 1GB of ROM, 512 MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

The smartphone is powered by Nokia Belle operating system with FP1 and sports a 4.0-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display (360 x 640 pixels), which is based on Nokia’s ClearBlack technology and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating.
