What if Nokia had launched the 701 model today?

Do you remember that back in 2011 Nokia unveiled the Nokia 700 model or Nokia Belle? One particular designer from the United Kingdom does remember that phone, and has even created a concept describing what it might have looked like had it been created with Windows Phone on top.

Nokia 700 arrived with a 3.2-inch capacitive multi-touch AMOLED display with Nokia ClearBlack technology and Corning Gorilla Glass, and a 1.3GHz ARM11 processor on the inside.

Other specs included USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC and a 5MP rear camera with fixed focus. After performing an update, the Nokia 700 was also capable of running full Microsoft Office Mobile apps.

Designer James Wood obviously didn’t forget this Nokia model, which certainly played a big role in his life at some point, so he started mulling over the idea of what the phone might look like if it existed today.

What if the Nokia 701 existed for real

The ideas in his head quickly flourished, and he managed to produce a bunch of images showing us how he imagined the device. The designer swapped the original Symbian OS on the Nokia 700 with Windows Phone, gave it a makeover, and called it Nokia 701.

We’re not given details about the possible specifications we might see inside such a phone, but we can guess the handset is meant to feature lower specs, including a possible quad-core CPU, 1GB of RAM and either 8GB or 16GB of internal storage. Maybe a 5MP selfie camera could don the front of the device.

From what can be seen in the photos, the Nokia 701 seems to have a metal frame with a polycarbonate body. It is rounded at the top and bottom and boasts the trademark Windows Phone buttons.

The phone has been rendered in blue, green, yellow and black, and comes with a slightly curved profile.

The Nokia 701 seems like a budget-friendly device which Windows Phone fans would be totally enthusiastic about.

Nokia will probably not be making any devices running this operating system anytime soon. However, last week, word surfaced several times that the Finnish company was sneakily trying to make a comeback into the handset market by 2016.

The device maker already unveiled the Nokia N1 tablet, which was one of the first tablets to run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. So brace yourselves for more Android goodies from the company in the future.
