Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia seems determined to make its Nokia 6790 Surge handset available in more markets around the world, this time preparing it for a trip to Canada. The Nokia Surge has been launched in the US recently, on the airwaves of AT&T, and is expected to be released in Canada in the near future via Rogers Wireless, one of the major operators in the country.

According to the news on the Web, Rogers is expected to have the Nokia 6790 Surge available for its subscribers for a price tag of CAD89.99 upon the signing of a three-year contract agreement. At the same time, the full retail price of the device has bee supposedly set at CAD279.99. For comparison, AT&T launched the Surge for $79.99 on a two-year contract agreement.

For what it's worth, the handset has a few goodies to deliver to users, including the QWERTY keyboard, a 2.4-inch display that boasts a 240 x 320 pixel resolution, and a 2.0-megapixel photo snapper. Also worth mentioning are Bluetooth capabilities, quad-band GSM/EDGE and dual-band HSDPA connectivity, built-in GPS receiver, as well as a microSDHC memory card slot to add more storage space into the equation, not to mention the Symbian Series 60 OS. The phone also sports a wide range of multimedia, messaging and social networking features.

Something that seems to be rather striking about the handset is that it does not come with very appealing looks. Even so, Nokia unveiled recently another version of the device, the 6760 Slide, which features about the same capabilities as the AT&T version, only with few modifications, such as the 3.2-megapixel camera. The handset headed for Rogers seems to be the Surge, as the documents published on symbian-guru show. Stick around to learn when the phone will be officially released on Rogers.
