Originally launched by Nokia at the end of 2009, Nokia 6700 slide is finally reaching the Canadian carrier Rogers. The device is offered for as low as $79.99 with a 3-year Rogers contract.

Even though the Finnish giant doesn't have too many fans in North America, where Motorola, Samsung, Blackberry, HTC and Apple are on a roll, some of its mid- or low-budget device might still attract some customers.

Nokia 6700 slide is powered by a ARM 11 600 MHz processor and runs Symbian OS v9.3, S60 rel. 3.2. It is HSDPA 10.2 Mbps compatible and features HSUPA 2 Mbps.

The strong point of the smartphone is the 5.0-megapixel camera on the back with autofocus, LED flash, Carl Zeiss optics and video recording capabilities (VGA@15fps).

The slider comes with a small 2.2-inch TFT display with 240 x 320 pixels resolution and 16 Million colors support. It embeds 45 MB storage space, 128 MB RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 16 GB, 2 GB included).

Other key features of the handset include: GPRS/EDGE class 32, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, microUSB 2.0, secondary QCIF videocall camera, Stereo FM radio with RDS, Visual radio, 2.5 mm audio jack, Flash Lite 3.0, Ovi Maps.

While the device is available in six colors (Aluminum, Pink, Petrol-blue, Red, Lime, Purple), Rogers seems to be selling only the Aluminum version of Nokia 6700 slide for the moment.

The phone can also be bought with a shorter term contract $129.99 with a 2-year Rogers contract, or for those that prefer to be free of contract the carrier sells the slider for $229.99.

All in all, Nokia 6700 slide is a decent choice for those that remain faithful to Nokia's Symbian OS. Once a rumor at Rogers, Nokia 6700 slide is finally becoming a certainty and can be ordered from the carrier's website.
