Nokia and Samsung have released their newest models in the U.S., sometime after unveiling them on the European market. This near-holiday release focuses the attention on these versions, which will probably be highly appreciated as both models represent good pieces of technology and are also reasonable regarding the price tag.

After its release in Europe, the Nokia 6650 was expected to reach the American users and yesterday the mobile was finally on sale in AT&T stores. The 6650 is a dual-band HSDPA GSM/EDGE phone, with a 2.2 inch QVGA 16M color external display, SDHC slot, flash and Video Share support, Bluetooth with stereo audio support, and HTML browser. The 2.0 Megapixel camera and all the AT&T applications (Video Share, Mobile music, XM radio, Mail) make it an even more interesting device. In addition, the AT&T Navigator service provides dedicated menu keys and it’s operated by Symbian's S60 OS.

The Eternity is equipped with a 3.2'' WQVGA widescreen display, HTML browser, GPS support through AT&T Navigator and a 3.2 Megapixel camera including Video Share, plus other just as useful features such as TouchWiz, Mobile TV, Media Flo and expandable SDHC memory. AT&T has included the same service package for the Eternity as we've seen on the 6650, but when it comes to price, the difference is noticeable.

All in all, these two models offer about the same services and features and what differentiates them the most is basically the design. The 6650 is a flip clamshell whereas the Eternity sports the beloved slider design of the Samsung brand. At the end of the day, they both look good enough to keep you satisfied.

As regards pricing, Nokia goes for $269.99 with no contract or $119.99 on a two-year settlement, whereas Samsung rises to $369.99 with no contract and $199.99 also on a two-year agreement.
