Almost two months ago Nokia announced the beginning of the "Long Way Down" journey. They then set Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman on a journey and they were supposed to test the Nokia 6110 handset in order to keep communicating with people.

It now looks like the "Long Way Down" has reached its end, after several weeks of driving on motorcycle from Scotland to the southern most tip of Africa. Nokia says that the two celebrities have driven almost 25 000 km and have managed to cross two continents. The finish line set in Cape Town was crossed today, putting an end to Nokia 6110's journey.

"The Long Way Down has been an amazing journey and it has been a real privilege to be able to experience these diverse and beautiful places. We've had the opportunity to see such different ways of life to ours and have travelled to remote places very few people have access to. The sense of freedom and exploration has been incredible", Ewan McGregor has commented on his journey experience.

"There have been times when it has been unbelievably hard going but that has been countered by amazing riding and extraordinary people. Africa is a continent full of undiscovered wonder and we both feel incredibly lucky we've been able to experience this together and to have survived with some brilliant stories to tell", Charley Boorman has also declared on his arrival.

Still, no word on the important role that Nokia 6110 must have played in reaching the finish line. Indeed, the devices comes packed with GPS (Global Positioning System) and AGPS (Assisted Global Positioning System), which are meant to help its user find his/her way in any situation. This is not the only thing that the two celebrities have been using this handset for. Nokia 6110 seems to have been highly useful for map checking, web searches, documenting video and calling back home.
