A new firmware version for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, namely v11.0.008, has been made available, and it can be downloaded through the Nokia Software Update application. All variants of the handset should benefit from the update, and there are some reports that the new 5800 XpressMusic phones, which are being sold in India at the moment, already come with the new firmware installed.

The update is meant to fix different issues including Invalid message popping up before playing a file received via Bluetooth, last word disappearing when the receiver is selected in SMS, the UI-rotation, which is too sensitive, Google search service missing from Search, license Manager for Maps not being integrated to SW, or the Web screen being messed up.

At the same time, some users experienced an issue with the Messaging application as well, which is reported to have been crashing a lot, especially when replying or trying to send SMS. Users were forced to remove the battery so as to be able to use the device again. Moreover, the phone was also reported to fail to display the correct time when the power is off.

According to S60inside, the changelog of the new firmware v11.0.008 also includes:

"Homepage is not defined for Vodafone Live! My Nokia: phone displays “#” in front of Application name.
