Among the last Nokia smartphones launched in North America, Nokia 500 is now available for purchase via Canadian carrier WIND Mobile.

Customers who prefer Nokia's Symbian operating system can order the Nokia 500 for a suggested retail price of $179 (130 EUR) or as low as $29 on WINDtab.

Coincidence or not, Nokia 500 has just been debuted by Mobilicity as well, but the carrier offers the smartphone slightly cheaper at only $170 (120 EUR).

It is also worth mentioning that customers who purchase the Nokia 500 will also receive two extra covers (blue and red) in the sales package.

WIND Mobile confirms the smartphone comes with additional interchangeable back covers on the phone's webpage: “The Nokia 500 is a sleek and compact phone that includes interchangeable red, blue and black faceplates so your phone can always match your mood.”

While Nokia prepares to take on the North American smartphone market with its newly announced Windows Phone devices, Lumia 800 and 710, Espoo fans can give another chance to the old Symbian operating system.

Nokia 500 is powered by Symbian Anna platform and enables access to Nokia Store (also known as Ovi Store) that allows users to download and install third-party apps and other content.

The smartphone comes with a 3.2-inch nHD capacitive display with 16 million colors support and 360 x 640 pixels resolution, along with accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate and proximity for auto turn-off.

The phone is equipped with a 1 GHz ARM 11 processor and packs 2 GB of internal memory, 256 MB of RAM, 512 MB of ROM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

It also sports a 5-megapixel camera with fixed focus and video recording capabilities, as well as 1110 mAh Li-Ion battery that provides up to 7 hours of talk time or up to 18 days of standby time in WIND zones.
