Nokia 3D World Gaze is the latest application to arrive on Symbian^3 mobile phones from the Nokia Beta Labs, nothing more than an experimental mixed reality software that brings a 3D view of Earth to these handsets.

With the new application, users would be able to enjoy a brand new perspective on the world around them, in addition to being able to see through the planet's surface.

“This app gives you a new kind of perspective: a 3D, real-time, first-person view to the entire world. You can simply look down through the Earth to see all the continents, cities, media, and other information where they exist in reality,” the development team notes.

The application works in a simple way. All that users will need to do is to point the phone in a direction or another, and the software will bring to them the reality in a way they never seen before.

“In addition to geographical features such as continents in their real physical locations, Nokia 3D World Gaze allows you to see geotagged media, day and night regions, current location of the Sun, and other content from locations around the world,” the app's developers explain.

“The app gives you a new way to think about the relationship between the planet Earth and you on it -- we live on a giant sphere and far-away cities and continents are actually somewhere below us.”

Nokia 3D World Gaze was designed for all mobile phone users who would like to discover more on the world around them. It can be used anywhere on the planet, the team of developers continues.

“The app provides a serendipitous view of the world and it can be used anywhere on the planet. In fact, we encourage you to try it while traveling abroad: the world looks surprisingly different depending on where you are viewing it from,” they note.

At the moment, the application is available for download only in a beta flavor, as its developers are looking into ways to improve the experience users can receive from it.

According to them, the main focus is on ensuring that the new Nokia 3D World Gaze mobile application can easily fit the needs of users interested in learning more on the planet they are living on.

All those who would download and install the application on their Symbia^3 handsets should consider providing feedback on the experience they received from the software, so that new features could be added into the mix, along with other improvements.
