Over the weekend, the British media broke the “story” that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, arguably the most mediated couple in showbiz, had come to the conclusion that they could no longer continue living together and would call it quits, having already made provisions for the imminent separation. The problem is, sources close to the couple insist, that the two did not even talk of going in different directions, People magazine says.

News of the World reported the other day that Pitt and Jolie, having decided to break up, had already seen an attorney to talk of what would happen to the six children whose custody they share. The report also had it that the two, though never legally married, would part as if they had been, in the sense that they would divide their joint fortune in half. Jolie would keep permanent custody of the kids, with Pitt getting visitation rights. It might be that the tab and many others got a bit ahead of themselves, as the two stars are not considering separation – far from it, actually.

“While reports are swirling that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are headed for a split, multiple sources close to the family tell People that the rumors are false. ‘Everything is fine’ with the couple, who are parents to six kids, a source says. Another source says the split reports, which were first published in a British tabloid, are ‘totally false.’ In recent weeks, it’s been business as usual for the busy couple – movie shoots, family outings, charity work – and several observers say they saw nothing amiss,” People magazine writes.

Gossip website and paparazzi agency TMZ also insists that rumors of the split are false, having talked to other sources close to the Jolie-Pitt couple. “Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are not pulling the plug on their relationship, multiple people directly connected with the couple tell TMZ. There’s a report out that Brad and Angie are calling it quits. One source – who should know – says, ‘It’s B.S’,” TMZ writes.

As fans will know, Brad and Angelina met on the set of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” and almost immediately became an item, if one should trust gossip, since they repeatedly denied any involvement until after Pitt’s divorce from Jennifer Aniston. They have six children together, three adopted and three by natural birth, but have never married, offering no reason for their refusal to legally become husband and wife.
