It seems that Blizzard will not be working on a true strategy based installment for the Warcraft series any time soon despite fans asking for it for quite some time, as it simply lacks the manpower and the talent to take on another big franchise at the moment.

Greg Street, who is the systems designer for the Cataclysm expansion for World of Warcraft, has told Strategy Informer that, “Well, the World of Warcraft team is busy on World of Warcraft, and we have an RTS team but they are busy with Starcraft II, we don’t right now have enough bandwidth to tackle something like that.”

Blizzard is a developer which is very much focused on the quality of its titles and takes its time when it comes to determining release dates for its products.

At the moment, the company is working on Diablo III, which could be released in 2011 but was initially widely considered as a candidate for launch in both 2009 and 2010 by analysts and the media.

The company has shown off all the character classes that will appear in its hack and slash title and showed off gameplay videos that reveal a pretty finished experience.

Back at Gamescom in August, even the hands on experience was pretty polished, yet Blizzard refuses to slap a clear launch date on Diablo III.

On the real time strategy front, the company is committed to delivering two expansions for Starcraft 2, the first one called Heart of the Swarm and focused on the Zerg and another built around the Protoss and named Legacy of the Void.

A leaked document from Blizzard China suggests that the first one could arrive in 2012 while the other could arrive two years later.

It seems that Blizzard has two mysterious projects in development, one called Phoenix and one called Titan, but neither one of them seems to be connected to Warcraft.
