Disney’s It star Miley Cyrus wants to move away from her Hannah Montana persona to more serious acting, with parts that would show her beyond any trace of doubt whether she really has potential as a serious actress. In order to do so, she must break free from Hannah, which Miley intends to do as soon as possible, as the actress herself tells USA Today.

On April 10, Cyrus will presumably be taking the box-office by storm again, once “Hannah Montana: The Movie” is released. However, this will be the last film of the kind that the Disney star will star in, although she will continue with the Disney show. In this sense, Miley has already signed with the network for the third season and is even talking a fourth one as well. A film on the same subject, though, is unlikely to happen again at this point.

“I don’t know if I would do another [Hannah Montana] film, but I would love to do another season. That would be what we would all agree on.” the actress says, as quoted by the aforementioned publication. Her decision has not been based on how much money she would make if she continued with these films, since, judging by the $60 million the Montana-Cyrus “Best of Both Worlds Concert” 3D movie made at the box-office, money would not have been an issue.

What Miley is looking to do right now, as she tells the publication, is to check whether she really has what it takes to make it as a serious actress, or whether she simply has been lucky enough to be cast for a character that is so very much like herself. In this sense, she has already spoken to author Nicholas Sparks (“Nights in Rodanthe,” “The Notebook”), who has been busy writing a screenplay with Miley in mind.

So far, not much is known about “The Last Song,” other than that it will presumably surprise Miley Cyrus fans, preferably in a most pleasant manner. “I’ve always been lucky to play parts that relate to me, and this doesn’t at all. I have my issues, but not as bad as this chick. So I’m happy to play someone that’s just kind of out there and not someone that I’m like. So, we’ll see how that goes.” Miley tells with a smile.
