Lindy Electronics launched its Wireless VGA Projector Server which is intended to enable users to eliminate the use of cables in business meetings, presentations and seminars as it can easily act as an intermediate between a wireless enabled computer system and a projector or display monitor. As users have only to connect the projector or display monitor to the new Lindy appliance and then control everything through their own wireless enabled computer systems, the new device may come in handy at a number of different occasions, especially when several computers may need to share a single projector or monitor.

As all data transferring operations are done through the wireless medium, the Lindy Wireless VGA Projector Server eliminates the need to swap cable between computers in order to access a projector which in turn cuts the number of cables that are needed when running a presentation. As the advanced design of the projector server supports both audio and video signals, the new device from Lindy is particularly well suited for multimedia presentations and it also allows the projector to be placed in an out of the way location.

''Setting up in between presentations can cause unnecessary delays, which is particularly inconvenient when the day is being run to tight schedule such as in schools. Networking the projector over a wireless LAN makes changing over computers simple and quick, enabling presenters to keep the momentum of the day's activities going,'' comments Andrew Ingram, Product Manager of LINDY Electronics, who was cited in the company's press release concerning this product.

The projector server is multiuser enabled as it features a ''Conference Control'' system, which allows a single projector to be shared between as many as 20 separate computers, while an easy to use browser compatible interface allows the control of the presentation to be passed from one user to another. As the Lindy projector server also supports an Ethernet connection, even computers without wireless capabilities will be able to gain access to it.

The new projector server is compatible with Microsoft Windows XP, 2000 and Vista and it also supports audio and video streaming in the MPEG 1, 2 and 4 file formats, being perfect for multimedia presentations. On the image department, the server can streamline display resolutions up to 1024x768 at a standard color depth of 32 bits. A continuous flow of the presentation, without glitches or pauses is ensured as the projector server is compliant with the fast IEEE802.11g wireless standard that is able to transfer up to 54Mb per second.
