No Man's Sky was all the rage back when it was first unveiled. It had space exploration, space combat, vivid environments, and purple dinosaurs, which is pretty much what everyone has always wanted.

As time went by and developer Hello Games started talking about the game, many people wondered exactly what you would be doing in the game, aside from exploration and looking at pretty, colored stuff.

During a recent interview with Eurogamer, Hello Games' Sean Murray answered a few of the questions on everyone's mind. He revealed that the game would be open ended, which means that players will be able to approach No Man's Sky in a multitude of ways.

The core of the game is the player's journey to the center of the galaxy. Gamers begin the trek on the outer edge of the galaxy and then gradually make their way ever closer, upgrading their ship, weapons and suit.

There will be combat, and players will be attacked by others, and by AI-controlled forces, both while in space and on the ground, and the closer you get to the galaxy center, the more dangerous the journey gets.

Not your typical multiplayer game

"There's all those things in a core loop. Most of them give you money – which we call Units – and you can use that money to upgrade your ship. And you need to do that to be able to travel further. As you get closer to the centre of the galaxy you will find it is more dangerous – just like in any game – and you will find that the best ships are only available towards the center of the galaxy," Murray revealed.

In addition to this, players will be able to harvest resources and explore, and even trade for those interested in the activity.

The game lacks defined objectives, however, and a linear structure of gameplay or storyline, which means that players are encouraged to do their own thing, as the team's goal was to create an open-ended and unpredictable experience.

Players will be able to go around the galaxy forever and explore, as there won't be any paths that have to be taken. Everyone will be able to play the game in a different way, and what will be intriguing to some others will just ignore, but in the end, being able to enjoy No Man's Sky in a lot of different ways is what makes the game interesting to Hello Games.
