No Man's Sky developer Hello Games has confirmed that the open-world galactic adventure will also come to PC, and that the PlayStation 4 exclusivity is only a timed feature.

Many feared that the beautiful and intriguing exploration game would be exclusive to Sony's platform in the wake of the two companies buddying up at E3 2014, with No Man's Sky, initially announced as PC-focused, now touted as one of the prominent future titles of the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system.

Sony has entered a deal with Hello Games to ensure that No Man's Sky will remain exclusive for its platform for a fixed duration, in spite of the fact the adventure title, first unveiled at VGX 2013 in December, bears of the hallmarks of an indie PC game.

In any case, the team has since then been on the fence regarding any definitive announcements related to the PC version of the game, until Sean Murray, the managing director of Hello Games, has confirmed that the colorful No Man' Sky will indeed also land on PC, but at a later date.

"Unlike most games, the actual hardware really affects what we can do in terms of the richness of the worlds and things like that. It isn't just adding a veneer of resolution, or extra antialiasing options. It has a real effect on what we can actually do in the universe," Sean Murray tells Edge magazine.

"I actually got in a bit of trouble for saying that we wanted the game to feel really 'console-y,'" Murray explains. "We've always had PC in mind but in my head [console-y] means solid framerate and immediate controls. I think a PC game can be 'console-y' and it's intended as a compliment, but I get in trouble for saying it."

Whatever PR spin one might try to put on the timed exclusivity deal, it's comforting to know that PC gamers will also get to experience its lush, colorful worlds, most likely in higher fidelity than on the PS4, by the time it comes out.

Until then, you can always turn to this No Man's Sky beta parody to get you going, and marvel at the wonders that you will come across while venturing into the unknown universe.

No Man's Sky is set to debut on the PlayStation 4 console sometime in 2015. There is currently no word on when the PC edition of the title will come out.
