With the success that “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” had in 2007, it’s no wonder that the producers are thinking of a fourth film for the franchise. Although it is still in its initial stages, the project might have to overcome one huge, and quite unexpected obstacle for that matter, since British actress Keira Knightley says she wants nothing to do with the “Pirates” franchise anymore, according to her own words for Moviefone’s Inside/movies.

While speculation is starting to built up that Johnny Depp has already signed on for the fourth film as the wacky Captain Sparrow, Keira, who plays Elizabeth Swann, says she might not appear in it. It’s not that the movie is not fun or worth her time, she adds, but that she simply feels that she has moved past that stage and would like to focus on something else.

“It was a completely fantastic experience, and it was an amazingly large portion of my life, but I don’t think I need to go there again. I think that it’s done.” Keira shares, making sure to stress that she is more than happy to have been a part of the “Pirates” family for such a long time. It’s not even a conflict that is pushing her away from the film either, the actress points out, since she will be the first in line to buy tickets for the fourth movie when it comes out. “I’m very excited to see the next one. And [Johnny] is so wonderful in that character. I think it’ll be wonderful.” Keira adds.

While speculation about one of the cast members leaving the production has been heard since before “Dead Man’s Chest” came out in 2006, this is actually the first time that Keira openly states that she might not want to be involved in it anymore. Before the second “Pirates” installment came out, rumor had it that it was Orlando Bloom’s character, Will Turner, who had to be taken out, so that Elizabeth would find true love with Captain Sparrow (Johnny Depp).

However, each time that such rumors emerged, the producers and the movie studio always made sure to put fans at ease by telling them that the onscreen trio would continue to appear in all “Pirates” movies, be they three or upwards of five. Keep an eye on this space to see what becomes of this.
