But the team plans to include more social options for gamers

Despite the increased connectivity and social options offered by the upcoming FIFA 13, the development team at EA Sports says that gamers should not expect to see any actual cross-platform play during the rest of the current console generation.

David Rutter, the executive producer working on FIFA 13, tells AusGamers that, “for the EA Sports Football club, it kind of is, and we’ve been lucky to have brilliant partners in both Sony and Microsoft when dealing with that, and obviously Apple with their iOS devices has been great too.”

He adds, “So I think as far as actually being able to play head-to-head, or anything like that, I can’t ever envisage a time when that would happen but certainly for profiles and things like that, and sharing of certain stuff, is absolutely doable, and we’re really, really pleased that they’re letting us do it.”

Interestingly, Rutter only talks about the current console generation, which might be taken as a hint that the coming devices from Sony and Microsoft might offer an option for cross-platform play.

Neither of the two hardware makers has announced any official details about their coming home consoles and the big announcements will probably be made during E3 2013.

EA Sports is interested on making it as simple as possible for FIFA 13 players to connect to one another and see how players are performing, which are their favorite teams and their preferred players.

The new football simulation will focus on the unpredictable nature of the game and will see extended use of physics and better evaluation of players skill that will make both attacking and defending more open, with plays that are closer to those seen in real world matches.

FIFA 13 is set to arrive on the PC, home consoles and a variety of other devices on September 28 of this year.
