Does this mean that it's alright to burn...?

Provoxgames' Space Force - Rogue Universe, is a new 3D space combat game promising a "fresh and intergalactic experience" released in Q1 of this year. The game is a fairly good one for the PC platform, but both publisher (JoWooD) and developer have agreed that copyright protection wasn't an issue, when they'd released the FAQ on the game's official forum.

Some important details concerned the expected release date for the game, whether the game was going to be released in English and through online digital distribution as well, whether it was going to have widescreen and so on.

As for the game's copy protection...

"No we are not bothering with that," said the developer. "Who wants to buy it, that one will buy and who wants to copy that one will copy. There is no chance that we can force someone to buy our game. With copy protection we can only harm sincerely ones that properly buy our game. And if someone like game why don't buy. It only can get better sequel. Especially from us, because we are very small team in development."

There are some words lacking there I think, but that's not the point. The point is that copyright protection can be left out. I didn't hear Provoxgames crying about losing their studio and stuff. Did you? There's no chance that this is the start of a trend or something, so just forget about it. They themselves said that they're a small team. They'd have to scream pretty loud to make themselves heard if you know what I mean.

But I'll bet you have something else in mind now: consoles. No copyright, no punishment for burning the game and running it on your PlayStation/Xbox, right? Wrong. While Space Force - Rogue Universe was in development, there were no plans for porting it to consoles and things hadn't changed in the following period either: "For NOW there are no plans to release the game for consoles!" Things stayed that way, as you can imagine.

This doesn't mean that you should go right now and burn your very own copy of the space combat game you know, although it sounds awfully tempting just to do it knowing that it's alright, isn't it?
