One of the VH1’s reality show might not live to see another season for the very reason that it’s called what it’s called. “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” has failed to get celebrities to appear on the show and, since no one would watch it if it stars regular people, the ax is looming over the fourth season, TMZ says.

Admittedly, VH1 has been pulling a muscle (almost literally) trying to get celebrities who are now tabloid fodder to appear on the fourth seasons of the show, including the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Heather Locklear. However, since agreeing to do the show would mean first an admission of having a problem, namely an alcohol or drug addiction, and given that both the aforementioned stars insist there’s nothing wrong with them, no deal was made.

Unfortunately, this leaves VH1 without celebrities to cast on its “Celebrity Rehab” show. “There is no shortage of celebrities that need rehabilitation – but the VH1 show ‘Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew’ can’t get any of them to star on the show next season. Sources close to the production tell TMZ they have struck out left and right trying to find A, B, or even C-list celebs for the show. As we first reported, they had their eyes on Lindsay Lohan and Heather Locklear, to name a few, but were quickly shot down. The show was able to get a tentative commitment from a few D and F-listers, but our sources say the network rejected them,” TMZ writes.

According to the same media outlet, VH1 is already behind schedule with preparations for the fourth season of the show, as it was supposed to have the cast locked in their contracts by this past Friday. The deadline was extended until Wednesday, since there was no one attached but things are not looking good: as TMZ puts it, if there’s no celebrity cast, then there’s no show.

At the same time, Dr. Drew Pinksy himself and spokespersons for VH1 are on damage control mode, telling TheWrap that rumors of problems with the production have been grossly exaggerated. “I checked with VH1 and production is on track,” Dr. Drew says. “We’re on track with casting, don’t know where the rumors are coming from,” a spokesperson for the network also says.
