Apple has updated a job listing over this weekend to replace a ‘TV’ reference with ‘Apple TV’, thus dismissing recent reports saying that Apple was finally hiring people to work on its rumored full-fledged TV set.

Reports emerged this weekend saying that Apple had posted a corporate job advertisement that related to creating power supplies for Macintosh computers, including notebooks, desktops, servers, as well as for standalone displays and TVs.

The description specifically stated “The position primarily involves high-density offline power supply’s development for Apple’s next generation Macintosh platforms spanning from notebook computers, desktop computers, servers, standalone displays and TV.”

The simple ‘TV’ reference spawned speculation from the folks at macgasm who noted that Apple has long been rumored to be working on an Apple branded television set, which would deliver the full experience, rather than just another set-top box like the existing Apple TV.

One prominent analyst with Piper Jaffray often reaffirms his beliefs that 2012 will see the introduction of such a system, though there has been little to no evidence that this was the case.

Although this recent job advertisement for “AC/DC Power Supply Design Engineer” could have constituted a clue, Apple has now updated the description to clarify that it was referring to the existing Apple TV (emphasis ours).
