DirectX 10 drivers for G80 series are still unavailable

Ok, so you?re among the lucky ones who possess a G80 series Nvidia card. You have already tested it and enjoyed 100+ fps at high resolution in your latest games. And since you are a heavy torrent downloader, you have probably leached the latest SO coming from Microsoft. And now you feel the urge to see the Aero interface displayed using your new G80 friend.

Unfortunately, you?ll soon realize that you can?t do that since there is actually no Vista driver available for G80 based cards. A quick visit to the download section on Nvidia?s web site will quickly set your mood for today since the only driver available for download compatible with your hardware is designed to be used only with Windows Xp/MCE. And don?t think that compatibility mode will do you any good. You may get lucky and actually run Aero but your games will randomly freeze. Moreover, since the Windows Xp driver is not designed for DirectX 10, you won?t be able to use all the new features integrated into the GPU.

The guys at Nvidia are currently working on a driver that should be available in the next days. That could be a problem solver since no DirectX 10 benchmarks are available due to the inability of the Nvidia integrators to offer a Vista compatible driver. Bad, bad Nvidia. You keep all the girls for yourselves. And with that being said, I can?t help but wonder where the Adriane demo is.
