We suppose it is just a matter of time until even room lights get Wi-Fi support and, sure enough, the NetLED lighting system from Net LED Technology Corp. has that very capability.

The idea behind Net LED's invention is that lights should be possible to control via a smartphone or a tablet.

All it takes for web-based control is the NetLed app, which has to be installed on the phone/slate or a computer.

Armed with 40W light tubes (whose lifespan is of 40,000 hours), the NetLED system allows for each individual tube to be set at one of 10 dimming levels.

Naturally, the special app allows for totally shutting them off and turning them back on as well.

In addition to convenience, Net LED reportedly claims that the system can cut back on power costs significantly.

The control box/router set costs $780 (604.55 Euro) while a Wi-Fi-enabled tube will sell for $260 (201.51 Euro).

Fortunately, one Wi-Fi tube can link to four tubes without Wi-Fi, which cost 'just' $180 each (139.51 Euro).
